A Colorful Lesson About Creativity

Yesterday I stumbled upon a beautifully illustrated story that demonstrates how mistakes can reveal masterpieces...that mistakes are part of the creative process. Corrina Luyken's debut, The Book of Mistakes is a gem. While the book is a "light read", the absence of text allows your child to process a new perspective on mistakes.

As teachers, we show up with objectives, a lesson plan, and an eagerness to spark excitement from reading. That being said, we've learned to not let the lesson plan hinder the creative process...we sometimes need to pivot our strategies to incorporate the energy, skills, and ideas our students bring to our workshops.

Here's to hoping that today we can be inspired, instead of frustrated, by the spills and smudges in our lives!
